About Carrie

Carrie BSc, CTB.ccs, is a certified Dog Trainer/Behaviour Therapist. She has graduated from the Canine Communication Studies course in professional dog training, behaviour and aggression therapy, with highest honours.  This combined with a BSc in animal sciences gives her an invaluable education.  After apprenticing with Norma Jeanne for over a year, she went on to run her own success training business.

After running training classes for a few years, the need for fear rehabilitation became evident, and Confidence Building Clinics were created.  Carrie has been operating the Confidence Building Clinics for over 3 years now.  In that time, many dogs have graduated as confident, happy and friendly dogs.

She has received the following awards as voted by her peers:

  • Fear Rehabilitation 2006, 07 and 08
  • Dog/Dog Aggression Rehab 2005, 07 and 08
  • Social Training Excellence 2007
  • Dog Trainer of the Year 2006
  • Dog Training Excellence 2006
  • And More!

Our Team

With help from Madison, her 4yr old Shih-Poo and Tehya her 5yr old Greyhound, she has designed these clinics after dealing with her own fearful dog, Dory a 5yr old Shih-Poo and understanding how heart breaking it is to have a dog with fear issues.

Madison is an invaluable member of the team.  Being highly socialable, she knows just how to encourage the shy guys to come out, and show them it's safe.  She won the 2007 Canine Hero award and is currently nominated for a 2nd year in a row for her work with these dogs.

Tehya - brings a whole other side to the clinics.  Her large, black sleek self, doesn't seem to do much more then stand around soaking up the love.  Her non-threatening manner, often lying on her side letting the other dogs approach gives them a opportunity to interact with someone who is often twice the size of the other dogs.

This team just has what it takes to build confidence in our Clients.

Thank-you's

I want to Thank Norma Jeanne for providing me with the skills and opportunity needed to follow my passion.

Thanks to Dory who taught me what living with fearful dog is like and what it takes to turn that around, Madison for showing me the way and that I have what it takes to help others. Tehya for showing me stereotypes aren't absolute. And my other dogs for showing me there must to be a better way and that animals deserve more.

Last, but not least, thanks to my husband, Ian, for supporting me in this.

You all, mean the world to me, so I thank-you and the dogs thank-you.
